RSVance, my reply to your comment seems to be missing. Those dang e-pixies musta stole it again. Yes, I am sending Jane back to the mountains in book four (still untitled) and I may go visit that part of the world as research. I soudns lovely. Thanks for the tip!
Oh I’m really extra excited over book 4 in the Jane series now. My husband used to work in Spruce Pine, NC for a surveyor out in the mountains and he saw either one mountain lion several times or several mountain lions there. He showed me the tracks and they were huge. I live in Roan Mountain, TN and there are a lot of wilderness still left here in places with the population less than 1200. There are lots of deer, bear, bobcats, a mountain lion spotted ever now and then, and that’s just in my back yard! It would be a good setting for a mountain lion to travel through. Here is a link, even if you don’t think it makes a good setting, you might want to visit some time.
Thank you RSVance! I visit Asheville very often (I paddle!) and hope to set book 4 of the JY series near there.
I live in the Carolinas and have for many years.
Just finished Blood Cross, love this series! You might have answered this question somewhere and I missed it, so I’m going to ask anyway. Do you visit Asheville and the Appalachian mountains? Or what made you add that to the storyline? I thought at first maybe you werefrom here but then read that you were from New Orleans. I live in the Appalachian mountains in Northeast Tn and love reading about it so I’m really enjoying the snippets about Jane being from here. thanks for writing a really great series. I love action movies and action books. It’s ok if a little romance is thrown in as long as it doesn’t become the story as in some of the popular series that are out now. I think you have the mixture just right.
Thank you for the Jane Yellowrock series. I enjoyed the novels very much. Listened to the audiobooks. I hope Khristine Hvam continues to be the narrator for the series. She is excellent.
While reading Blood Cross this past May, we adopted a stray kitten. We named him ”We sa”. He is a cute little fella. haha
Can’t wait for when Mercy Blade comes out!!!
I am wondering if I over looked it some where in the threads. However, will there be another Jane Yellowrock book coming out? I just read Blood Cross and I am hoping that is not the last one. Thank you for making such a wonderful book and great characters.
YAY! Congratulations! =) And I love snippets. They make the wait a little more bearable.
I wish I could get myself to sit down and finally write the book that I’ve had in mind for a while. Before you published your first book, did you have a specific person who read through your chapters as you wrote them (I guess helping you brainstorm?), or did you just do everything on your own? I feel like there’s something that needs to change so I can finally dedicate myself to writing, but I can’t figure out what!
JoAnne Walker…. I’ll have to check this out now and add to the pile of books I still need to read =) I’m starting to get excited though, 5th Mercy Thompson book comes out soon!
Hi Tori! Thank you so much! I too love Mercy! And JoAnne Walker, the shifter character in CE Murphy’s series. Mercy Blade is finally done and sent to the editor. I am soo relieved!
Thank you for creating such an amazing series with super awesome characters.
I checked out Skinwalker a few weeks ago because someone suggested the book, saying that Jane was just as cool as Mercy Thompson (I gobble those books up the second I get them hehe).
I was pleasantly surprised with the way you crafted Jane/Beast. I laughed at some scenes, my eyes watered at others. You did a WONDERFUL job at transforming Jane from a badass into a more relate-able/vulnerable (but still badass) character to her readers in Skinwalker. (I just started a blog recently and Skinwalker was the first book I reviewed for it, I loved your book so much!)
Blood Cross was the perfect followup. I won’t say much since BC came out recently, but you made the romantic in me squeal in glee with the ending! =)
I actually got scared by the epilogue, though, because it sounded so final, which is why I rushed to your site to see if there was a third book.
Keep up the good work, and I totally wish I could fast forward to 2011 just to read your next book!
I had fun reading Skinwalker and Blood Cross. Kits was a pleasant surprise in my search to see when the next Jane Yellowrock book would be released. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I first found your novels at Walmart (angel series) and was hooked. But I must say that I think your Jane Yellowrock novels are even better! I read alot of supernatural fiction (Rachel Vincent, Patricia Briggs, etc) but I loved your fresh take on the standard vampire/werewolf/magic books. You always hear that people should write about what they know. Well apparently you know your louisana/indian culture. It makes me want to go visit the Big Easy again. Sad to hear that the next book is so far away but I wanted to say Kudos! Keep up the good work!
You made my day! Mercy Blade will be out in Jan. 2011. My agent is talking to my editor this week about the next book (which I think will be a JY book!)
Hey Shay! Next book will be released in Jan. 2011. A whole year. So I’ll just have to post snippets off and on, yes? And thank you for posting good reviews. Fans have all the power, you know? By pushing the books to your friends and readers, fans actually determine sales, and therefore whether or not your fav authors ever reappear. So…THANK YOU!!! You made my day!
I just finishd “Blood Cross”. It was wonderful. I love Jane and “Beast”. When will you have a new book available? I can hardly wait! I read “Kits”, as well. And, I posted how much I enjoyed your books on Charlaine Harris’ website. Many lovers there of Urban Fantasy.
I don’t know if I am brave, Jackie, or just a little crazy! I promise to keep posting snippits, and when the pub says I can, I’ll post a whole chapter…
Like always am late to the game… Found the 2 snippets to Blood Cross and enjoyed them, except for the reminder that it is still a long way till January 2010 to get the actual book.
I too also enjoyed a look at the early Jane in Kits and just so you know it is really fun to find your pics from rafting trips on Facebook and on the Enclave site, you are braver than me because I never learned how to swim well enough to be that kind of comfortable in the water….
Keep up the snippet posts as you have them ready for us we thank you for every little section you care to let us have a glimpse of prior to the book coming out…
lol Jackie in Central Texas
I should go exploring more often on writers’ websites. I found this great story — Kits. I really enjoyed Skinwalker, and it was fun to read something that happened before Skinwalker. I was especially amused by her key started Yamaha, considering her thoughts on such things as key starting motorcycles in Skinwalker. LOL

Hi, Purple. Mercy Blade comes out in January of 2011.
I really like your books and flew through the first two, I was wondering when book 3 comes out.
I am wondering if I over looked it some where in the threads. However, will there be another Jane Yellowrock book coming out? I just read Blood Cross and I am hoping that is not the last one. Thank you for making such a wonderful book and great characters.
Hi Tori. The first book was all alone. The second was with a cowriter and he was the reader. I learned then how helpful beta-readers are.
YAY! Congratulations! =) And I love snippets. They make the wait a little more bearable.

I try to do a freebie every now and again, and snippets often. Thanks for the kind words. You made my day!

Hi Tom! Glad you like it!
Yep. Jane got kinda opnionated when she finally got her dream bike. (lol)
