CALGARY and Coming Soon!

Hi All! For the next week, I’ll be at When Words Collide.  I’ll upload pics to Facebook. And to here if I am capable of that. Oy. Tech… There is still time to sign up for the first newsletter, which will go out very soon! There has been much excitement on choosing the newsletter name. There were a lot of choices but Yellowrock Securities Confidential won by a landslide. Watch for it soon! And in case you didn’t see this! The cover for the Trade Paperback Compilation with TWO NEW NOVELLAS! All the Jane shorts in one place! Hugs,...

The Week According to Faith

Faith-isms… No one from my youth would ever guess that I can be the voice of reason. Just sayin’.   Tuffy’s breakfast is blueberries, Greek yogurt, green beans, and chicken breast. He eats better than I do.   This week I have worked on the newsletter and the rewrites and I took care of the dogs. Multitasking. Except the dogs think they need more attention….   I also started to put the first full rewrite (of many) into the full rough draft of Shadow Rites (Jane Yellowrock book 10). Tied… But I always am at this point. AND — THE COVER!    People want to know why I’m starting a newsletter and taking snippets off FB and such. Well, here’s one part of the dealio. One post on the fan site was shared by 264 people. 264 shares, not likes. Shares! The shares from my regular page were 21. You do the math at the numbers of people who *should have* seen it! But only 8.6K people saw the post. Now stop and think. How many people are being *held back* from seeing a writer’s work? I totally understand FB not letting people advertize (reach *new* fans to buy books) without paying for advertising. But to keep friends/fans from seeing posts (posts that are not geared to making money) … Not fair. And the reason I am taking most of my fan interaction to the website and the newsletter. Newsletter signup Friday was the 6th time in the pool for mama and me. She is doing fantastic. Walking without holding on to anyone or anything and getting more limber. Her balance is fantastic! And she...

SHADOW RITES Snippet and Cemeteries of NOLA

Before we start on the Snippet — I just now finished the first full draft of SHADOW RITES, JY book 10. It is 109,000+ words and about 347 pages. Tomorrow, I start the revisions. WHOOT! (Photos from one of many cemeteries in NOLA, though not the one described here.) An SUV pulled up, a short distance away, the headlights visible through small buildings. We were no longer on St. Charles Ave, but just off Loyola Ave, in an area of town where cemeteries were on either side of the road. We were actually inside one cemetery however, and I caught a glimpse of the mausoleum belonging to H Meyer. The crypt was constructed of brick covered with cement, shaped to look like stone. There were once-white marble architectural elements and a pediment on top. If the cement parts of the burial place had ever been painted or whitewashed, the pigments were long gone. Low beds of white clover grew everywhere between the resting places of the long dead, and taller weeds pushed through the broken concrete walks. Bracken and more weeds grew from the walls and roofs of even older crypts. Neglect and decay and useless decadence. There was no one to keep the place of the dead nice, not anymore. It was falling to...

New Things to Come….

Hi all. This is a letter to update you about changes in my writer’s life, my books’ release dates, short stories, freebies, and to hint at new stuff to come. First, the changes: I’ll be posting all snippets here instead of on Facebook. The reason is twofold. One, FB has decided to make it harder for me to reach fans without paying money for each post. They actually changed the algorithm to inhibit people being able to see posts. While I do not begrudge them their money for using their space as advertizing, I can’t afford to pay them every single day! Two, FB has declared that they hold ownership of everything posted there, in violation of US copyright laws. So snippets have to go my website with a note on FB and Twitter that they are up. This is to protect my rights as an author. Today is the first day of this new situation. To celebrate this new way of doing things, tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday, there will be a two-part short piece of crossover fiction here at the website, featuring Hannah Everhart in the Thieftaker world with DB JAckson. If you haven’t read ‘Water Witch’, an e-short by us, get cracking because this picks up shortly after ‘Water Witch’. Onward to books! By now, most of you know that my editor and I pulled BLOOD OF THE EARTH from its October 2015 release date. I needed more time and Wonder Editor (like Wonder Woman but better) made it happen. Releases are now scheduled for: BLOOD IN HER VEINS, Feb. 2, 2016. (All the JY short stories in one spot,...

Charlaine Harris

As many of you know, Charlaine Harris’ last Sookie book will be released on May 7. Because this has been a wildly popular series, fans everywhere each had his / her own vision of where Sookie would go, what love interest she would end up with, and how the series should end. A cruel wicked person, one who had the honor of getting an advanced copy, and who showed herself unworthy of such an honor, released the ending. About half of the divided fans were angry at the way the series ended. Fans, who had been part of the journey for years, turned their backs–without ever finishing the journey. Without trusting the author, one they had admired, to take them to the ending in a wonderful believable way. A fiction series is a journey. If  readers jump off the boat halfway there, if they never see it through, then they lose, no matter how the series ends. Charlaine, I stand with you, no matter how the series goes. Because I know the journey will be wonderful, believable, and fulfilling. I will both preorder my copy from my local indie, and also one for my e-reader. Hang in there, Faith...
