Hi All,
People often ask if I put real life things into my books. I used to say no, but to be fair, everything a writer puts on the page has a launching pad from some place in real life. So I’ve been putting my own together. Here’s a few, altered, of course, to protect being sued by the guilty. But still. Real life.

Over the last few years there have been several such things:

The house with a line of buzzards sitting on the roofline. Directly in front of the door was a large white stone angel with wings outstretched. I have a pic. Creepy, right?

Then there was the weekend at a friend’s mountain home, a house that had been empty for weeks. I went to shower, and there was a high, narrow window in the shower stall. I put my hand there, over my head, to step in. And my hand came away coated with fresh blood. No dead animals were anywhere. No signs of break ins. Just the fresh blood.

Oh. This one is sad. The bags of bones buried beneath a layer of dirt, some rugs and a kiddie pool. Probably dog bones from an illegal fighting dog breeder, right? But what if there’s also something else down there? Sheriff involved.

Hubs had been studying purchasing a previously owned vehicle (a Suburban, for hauling boats). He found one at a used car lot in town after MONTHS of looking. He went straight there. The vehicle had just arrived and the lot owners hadn’t even opened it. Together, Hubs and the owner opened the vehicle. A strange scent boiled out with the contained heat. The carpet looked odd too. It was soaked all the way to the metal, wall to wall, with dried blood and cleansers. There was a bloody scuff on the ceiling. More on the sides. … Okay — It was determined to likely be deer blood. Some idiot either went hunting his Suburban or picked up a deer on the side of the road. Hubs got it CHEAP price and tore out the carpet down to the metal. My niece still calls it the Murder Car.

I’m sure I’ll think of more. LOL Life is weird, right?
