Cons and Pranks

Now that  ConCarolinas is over I have so many things I want to share. I love conferences because that is the only time I get to see my writer friends, and that is the time when I get to see fans, and that is the time when great things happen in my career. This year is no different.

I got to hang out with my best friends and talk about writing and books, and I got to meet new fans and old and, yes, I got a new opportunity, which I will announce as soon as possible, I promise!

I was pranked at this con all the way through the entire three days, and the prank theme was thongs. It’s a long story, but do know that I am now the … um … can’t say proud owner. Hmmm. How about tentative owner. Yeah, that sounds right. I am now the tentative owner of four lace thongs (pink, brown, white, and black) one leather thong, two book thongs, a set of thong coasters, a set of thong wine glass rings, a bottle of Flip Flop wine, a pair of black flip-flops, a metal thong “tree” (which I will use to hold necklaces) a coffee mug for gamer chicks, three man thongs (two elephant thongs, one fuzzy and one gold lame, and one red mesh thong). I have two flip flop bracelets, and I was served, and ate, eight thong homemade cookies. I have thongs socks, and thong anklets. I have colorful balls and peanuts and one big labradorite stone that flashes lots of fire and has joined the lovely stones on my desk.

All these treats (and many more) appeared as gifts delivered and opened in the middle of panels, appeared at my signing table on my chair, on my pillow, and were handed to me in the hallways. I felt special and had a good laugh all the way through. So – thank you to all the people who, mmm, thonged me. LOL

Cons leave me exhausted and energized, yes both, and so ready to write and promote and do all the things that need doing in writer’s life. So, this week, expect several posts here, with snippets from short stories, links to friends’ short stories, and maybe pictures, if I can get people to send them to me. Oh – and if you want to see the early cell-phone pics of the thongs, and my face, click on the FaceBook link and have a peek.
