ROGUE MAGE, the World Book and Role Playing Game is being playtested at ConCarolinas! Come play! Come visit!

Early in 2011 I ventured into the booth of Taylor’s Jewelry at Stellarcon in High Point NC and purchased a cuff. At that time, laid eyes upon the “Wiyrz” charms Ron Taylor made by hand. I began to dream of something wild and different and I asked Ron to make a cuff for me. He stated that he only made charms and pendants. But I’m a bit bossy. (grins) I described what I wanted – a cuff resembling the style that Ron wraps his stones in. And I promised to allow him to do his own thing and create whatever came to mind. I picked out a small blue calcite stone to embed in the cuff.

Here are Ron’s own words about the project:
“After much debate, I finally began work on May 21st, 2011. I had never made a cuff, but I used heavy gauge wire to create the frame and after that, I just let the cuff emerge from the wire and the stone as they spoke to me, all free form. The bracelet took three hours of wrapping and twisting as the energy flowed and took over. There was no glue used, no heating of the metal, no elaborate equipment. The only tools were my hands and a small pair of pliers and a wire cutter. I did not lay out a mental idea of the finished product, or draw a diagram or design. This cuff emerged from my mind and the wire itself. When it was done, I presented it to Mrs. Hunter and she approved of the design. I dubbed the cuff the “Faith Hunter Cuff” a one of a kind creation that I will never duplicate. I do believe that this cuff captures a bit of the spirit of Mrs. Hunter. It has many twists and turns and shows a flair for the unexpected and it shall be sitting on her wrist come ConCarolinas. With the writings of Mrs. Hunter you get a journey, your mind is taken to levels you never have considered before and this cuff, I feel, captures some of that magic that she creates in her novels. I feel that this cuff embodies a lot of who Faith Hunter is, one of a kind!”

Okay – I’m sniffling. And of course I bought the cuff when I saw it. It looks like somethign Thorn St.Croix might wear! It called to me! Thank you Ron. And here is his website:
