What a Week!

Sooo. Guess you noticed that I didn’t post last week. I have several family members come down with a variety of maladies and I had to babysit the toddler and take over some other duties. I’m back on writing schedule this week pretty much, but for today, I want to tell about the neph, the one I babysat.

Little Mic is not yet in the terrible two’s though he is two. He *is* in the “What’s that noise?” phase, however, and he has great ears!  He loves the sound of trucks, airplanes, chainsaws, birds, motorcycles, firetrucks, garbage trucks, police cars, and can name them all.

He can’t pronounce flower. It’s always fowler. He gives me fowlers. Which just makes me giggle happily.

He loves his daddy and mommy and Nana, and wants to know where they are at all times. And he makes suggestions so I will ask him questions. Like this:

“Do you want some m’shmellows?”

“Why? Do *you* want some marshmallows?

(Big eyes, mouth open, as if I just brought it up myself.) “Okay!”

He is so cute! But soon he will start to say, “No…” The terrible twos cannot be far away. Sigh. And Aunt Faithie will start that eyebrow thing that says (without words) “Don’t push me kiddo…” Never mind. It’s hard to describe. But they all think it’s funny. The nephs have been raised on it, and always tried to find ways to make me do it.

I’ve done little writing, except for some rewrite work on the book by the AKA, (Gwen). Ashes to Ashes is coming along! I hope to see it published this spring.

The hubby and I did get away for a few hours on Friday and ran 2+ miles of the Catawba River at Landsford Canal. The spider lilies are about 16 inches tall and have hidden blooms. Soon they will be a blanket of white across the shoals. I can’t wait. If the camera is fixed or replaced, I’ll take pics. We got it all wet Friday…

Oh, and I’ve been thinking about that freebie short story I plan — how Rick got his tats. It gets written this week, providing the creek doesn’t rise… (which has all sorts of connotations for a kayak paddler…)

Hugs, Y’all!
Faith
