The graveyard was on the esat side of the city -- the worst hit -- and had not been cleaned up since Katrina. The hurricane and flooding had filled inside the walls surrounding the graveyard and had been allowed to evaporate, leaving no grass, a thick dried scum peeling away from the ground.
