Yesterday Disappeared
I intended to write this post yesterday, but yesterday just disappeared. Poof, gone. So, here it is Tuesday, and I am just now getting started chatting about yesteday, which was totally excellent.
I started out with tea with one of my bestest writer pals. You have to guess who. All I’ll say is, she drives a really cool car and has great looking red hair.
Unnamed Writer Pal and I talked about our lives and families and drank tea and then got into chatting about the creative process. At one point she was talking about the circular route she takes her characters (you had to be there) and she was drawing it out on the table. And my eyes glazed over. She thought I was bored, but I was, instead, following her thoughts about the most creative part of writing and applying it to my own thoughts about characters and writing. It was a great way to think about the entire creative process, actually.
Out of that talk came the genesis of a blog about one small part of writing that will appear on Wednesday at MagicalWords.Net. Unnamed Writer Pal has signed off on it, and I am tickled pink! I’ll remind you to check it out come Wednesday.
Anyway, that was noonish. Then I babysat with the neph so mom could go to a funeral. I wanted to go, but mom needed to be there more. So I am saying goodbye to Joe Hicks. He was a good man. A man rich in talents and friends. A man well loved. He gave me a hand-carved, wood-worked, mahogany clock for my wedding. It sits, even now, on my book shelf. And a hand-carved wooden chest, about 30 inches wide, and 14 deep, sits in my parlor, inlaid with various woods. You can see it when you walk in the front door. It is utterly beautiful. Go in peace, Joe.
After the funeral, the Hubby and I went to the lake. we paddled a bit and I visited with Dad, who is getting over surgery. He looks good. The evening was TV, (House and Castle, which strikes me as funny. Where are hovel and shack and barn?) And I wrote a bit. And today is writing big time. I may drop a snippet tomorrow. Maybe…
Hugs,
Faith
