Vacation Update

What a wonderful totally freaking fabulous week! We are in the Tennessee mountains at the Pigeon River, visiting with friends my AKA, Gwen Hunter, met when she was researching her book Rapid Descent.

We spent a couple days on the Lower  Pigeon, familiarizing ourselves with our boats, and acting as extras for Dave Crawford’s kayak lessons. Not that he needed us. No way. But he let us tag along, which made us feel important.

;-)   Then, Dave took us on the Upper Pigeon at big water. Oh. My. God. The wave trains were four feet high. They crashed over our heads. Buried our boats. It was fabulous! Wonderful! And I never had to swim or try my *very* undependable roll.

We have spent time with the *real* Jedi Mike, talking politics and the environment and religion (hey, it was fun!) and hanging out with Itty Bitty and Susie and others at Wildwater. The AKA even had a signing there today.

We went up the mountain to Big Creek park and the hubby ran a quarter mile of Big Creek. He lived to tell the tale. I got some of it on tape. Tomorrow morning we’ll run the Upper again but at low water, with some paddlers we met up with. In the afternoon, we’ll hike to Midnight Hole, maybe play in the water. I’ll load a few pics soon….

Then we’ll head home, at a slow crawl, paddling our way in. I need to stay longer, but there’s work to do, books to write, and money to make.
Hugs, Y’all!
Faith
