Faith Hunter

Author of the Jane Yellowrock Series

I know it feels like I deserted you. No postings to my own blog since the 14th???? I should be beaten with something. Hope I get to pick what! (Puts on thinking cap. Something soft and furry, like a mink stole, maybe. Or a fake mink. Yeah. A fake mink stole.)

News:

The deadline for Blood Cross was met and is now at the copy editor’s. Hugs to my wonderful editor at Roc, Jessica! I *love* this book!

I typed so much and so long that I have tendinitis. Is there such a thing as typing elbow? Icing and meds.

Skinwalker is number 14 in fantasy at B&N, behind Charlaine Harris. Charlaine is kicking some butt!

Lovely new reveiw! I got compared to early LKH! How cool is that!

News&Sentinel

Dog got attacked by fox. No bites, but a *bad* slipped disc. Lots of meds and vet appointments and lots of contact with the county health officials. Still waiting to hear if hubby and I have to get shots.

That’s it. My week in a nutshell.
Hugs,
Faith

About The Author

Faith
A native of Louisiana, Faith spent her early years on the bayou and rivers, learning survival skills and the womanly arts. She liked horses, dogs, fishing and crabbing much better than girly skills. Still does. A love of history and ancient writings excite her even more, perhaps because she can trace her own family tree back to William the Conqueror's invasion of England in 1066, later to Sehoy III, an American Indian princess, and to the gens de couleur libre, the free men of color in New Orleans at the time of the War Between the States. As a girl, she fell in love with fantasy and sifi, reading five books a week, and wishing she, "could write that great stuff." Teachers in high school convinced her she could, and she's been writing ever since, with a desire to see ultimate good fight and defeat ultimate evil, and humans as part of the battle. Faith now shares her life with her Renaissance Man (Ren) and their dogs.

God will get me for lots of things…sigh… Elf? But Thorn dosen’t have pointy ears! (Grins)

    I’ve noticed that. :D

I’m close to the end and it has occurred to me that Thorn and her fellows aren’t mages, they’re elves. They’re smaller than humans, preternaturally swift, and seem to take longer maturing. I mean, Thorn is such a teenager. I.E., obtuse.

You got me interested in a fictional character! God’ll get you for that.

  3. Faith says:

It is a bit of a twisty novel. And yes, Thorn is young and inexperienced and has a lot to learn. But that is what series are for, you know?

Good to hear you and the critters in your life are doing well, all things considered. Hope the tendinitis clears up soon, but be kind to your elbows no matter what.

Now reading Bloodring and enjoying it. Thorn is such a worry wart. And a bit of a inadequately trained arcane klutz. I’m also enjoying the not so subtle references to Arthur C. Clarke’s Childhood’s End. Not a simple, straightforward story you’ve presented here by any measure.

I do wonder, could the tale be one of intervention by God, and an invasion and occupation of Earth by extraterrestrial forces? Seems to me the seraphs and their agents are not being entirely honest about who they work for and their motivations. Or maybe I’ve just read too much Heinlein, Campbell, and Clarke. :)
